Thriving doesn’t always last.. sometimes life forces you to start again.
For years, I was thriving in the Philippines. I had a high-paying corporate role, a condo, a car, lifelong friends, and a career path that was opening doors to leadership. I was confident, fulfilled, and living my best life.
Then everything changed. My father was hospitalised, and my family needed me back in Hong Kong. I left behind comfort, stability, and a career I loved and stepped into an environment where I felt like I didn’t belong.
I remember telling my friends: “I won’t be worth much in Hong Kong.” The job market was competitive, I didn’t speak the language, and I felt stripped of the identity I had built. Within months, I was in a toxic workplace, crying every night, mourning the version of myself I thought I’d lost.
Rediscovering My Spark
In that discomfort, I asked myself: Why did I love my previous work so much?
The answer was simple; I loved helping people. I thrived on streamlining processes, making lives easier, and hearing, “You made this so much better.” That spark had always been there, even in my first job.
So I stopped trying to fit into environments that didn’t value me. I decided to build something of my own.
Building M VA Solutions
Launching M VA Solutions was a no-brainer. And my first client came quickly, and I was welcomed into a network of incredible women who reminded me that skill is only part of the equation, community is everything.
